Rotationsinvarianz in exemplarbasierter Bildvervollständigung Autor: Martin Eller Über exemplarbasierte Bildvervollständigungsmethoden wurde, wegen ihrer Leistungsstärke in der Anwendung auf Bildern mit Textur, in den letzten Jahren viel geforscht. In dieser Thesis wird das variationelle Modell für exemplarbasierte Bildvervollständigung um einen zusätzlichen Freiheitsgrad, die Rotationsinvarianz, bereichert und die zugehörige Analysis im Detail ausgearbeitet. Für einen effizienten rotationsinvarianten Vergleich von Bild-Patches stellen wir Methoden vor, die auf der Entwicklung in der Basis der diskreten Circular Harmonics aufbaut; insbesondere wird eine Methode für einen gradientenbasierten Vergleich ausgearbeitet, die darauf aufbaut, dass die Circular Harmonics Eigenfunktionen des Laplace-Operators sind. Diese Vergleichsmethoden ermöglichen die Implementierung eines schnellen alternierenden Optimierungsschemas für exemplarbasierte Bildvervollständigungsfunktionale. Der nicht-lokale Patchmittelwert-Algorithmus und seine Leistungen bei der Vervollständigung von Strukturen und Texturen in Bildern wird detailliert beschrieben und wir zeigen die Verbesserungen in der Wiederherstellung glatter Kanten durch die zusätzliche Rotationsinvarianz anhand von numerischen Beispielen auf. In this thesis, the variational framework of exemplar-based inpainting is enriched by rotation invariance as an additional degree of freedom, including an extension of the analysis to the rotation invariant setting, which is developed in detail. For an efficient rotation invariant comparison of image patches we present methods based on discrete Circular Harmonics expansions, in particular, we also elaborate a method for gradient-based comparisons thanks to their property of being eigenfunctions of the Laplacian. These comparison methods allow for an implementation of a fast alternated optimization scheme of exemplar-based inpainting functionals. The patch non-local means algorithm and its performance in the recovery of image structures and textures are described in detail and we demonstrate by numerical examples the improvement in recovering smooth edges, which is due to the additional rotation invariance.
